26 travel trade international companies as the Buyers and 25 companies as the Sellers from Nepal actively participated in ‘Pokhara B2B Meet 2019’ The event is one of its kind first time held here in Pokhara.24 companies from India and 1 each from Bangladesh and Cambodia were among the buyers while 23 sellers and 12 sponsor sellers promoted their companies.4 nights 5 days free travel package was provided to the buyers right after they entered Nepal dated from 29th May till 1st June, 2019.
Organized by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Pokhara and Pokhara Tourism Council being the Executive Organizer of the event, one day B2B Meet was successfully concluded on 1st June 2019 in Mount Kailash Resort, Lakeside, Pokhara.
The inauguration session was chaired by Mr. Chiranjibi Pokhrel, the President of Pokhara Tourism Council. Nepal Tourism Board Pokhara Manager Mr. Suraya Thapaliya played the role of Master of Ceremony during the session.
The Secretary of Pokhara Tourism Council, Mr. Dil Gautam read out the Pokhara Declaration of the meet acknowledging all the concerned ones for their efforts and contribution to make Pokhara B2B meet 2019, a grand success. Similarly, as a part of Pokhara Declaration, he announced that with the support from Nepal Tourism Board and Tourism Ministry ‘Pokhara Travel Mart 2020’ (PTM) will be organised.
The B2B meet was inaugurated by Mr. Dipak Raj Joshi,the CEO of NTB.Mr. Joshi being the the chief guest of the program praised the energy shown by tourism entrepreneurs of Pokhara towards the development of tourism of this area.During the opening session, PATTA International representative, Ms. Danieyala Wagner as a key note speaker expressed the fact the Nepal Government is lacking to develop proper strategy for tourism development. Ms. Wagner emphasized possibility of agriculture and cookery tourism here in Nepal. She added that Nepal also can be promoted as the nation with so many ethnic groups.
In between, an interaction session was also held among the participants. The Director of Nepal Tourism Board Mr. Mani Lamichhane did the presentation titled ‘Why Pokhara?’ highlighting the facts as to why tourist should travel in Pokhara.
The Coordinator of the meet was Mr. Tika Ram Sapkota, past board member of Nepal Tourism Board whereas Mr. Rajesh Pahari was the Sub Coordinator of the event.
Buddha Air and Yeti Airlines were the airlines partner of the Event.The hospitality partners were Temple Tree Resort, Mount Kailash Resort, Hotel Pokhara Batika, Hotel Barahi, Hotel Raniban Arcade, Hotel Lake Shore, Water Front Resort, Byanjan Bar and Grill, Hotel Snowland and Blue Planet Lodge.
The other guests and participants also highlighted the salient features of upcoming Visit Nepal Year 2020 campaign that has targeted 2 million tourists in Nepal.
